Linens, bath towels and pool towels, and an initial supply of laundry detergent, dish soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, facial tissue, toilet tissue, and paper towels are included with your stay. Your vacation rental is equipped with all the basic necessities and more. All you need to bring are your personal items, food supplies and excitement for your stay!

Of course! We have a full outdoor kitchen including grill, fridge, sink, prep area, and more. We want you to arrive at our getaways and have everything you need!

At The Hillside, we do everything we can to make sure every amenity is in top notch working order, but sometimes things happen that are beyond our control. We will do our best to notify you prior to arrival should expected amenities be out of commission but cannot guarantee advance notification. For example, should you arrive and the hot tub isn’t working correctly, we will do our best to get our technician on site as soon as possible to address the issue, however, will not provide a discount on your stay.

While we love pets we have a strict no pet policy for the comfort of all our guests and to care for our home. We recommend Appleseed Valley Veterinary Hospital at 2690 Lexington Ave in Mansfield for boarding your pets.

A service animal that meets the ADA requirements is always welcome. As we are short term lodging, any service animal is expected to remain under the control of its handler at all times and may not be left in the lodging unattended. We appreciate your care of our property - as we typically do not allow animals, please make sure you bring all required items for the animal to be cared for and cleaned up.

Our professional turnover team will provide a full cleaning of the rental unit upon your departure, including laundry. If our property requires excessive cleaning, both on the interior and exterior of the lodge, then you may be charged an additional fee.

All of our properties are non-smoking and non-vaping of anything that can be smoked or vaped. We prohibit smoking (including vaping) inside any building, garage or within 25 feet of any window, door or air intake for a building. A $350 fee will be charged for smoking inside a vacation rental.

Cell phone coverage is available by major carriers. Please check with your carrier for a detailed coverage area. Free WiFi internet is available. We get speeds up to 300 mbps which is perfect for working remotely, streaming media, and whatever devices you bring.

You must be 25 years of age or older with a valid Government ID to rent The Hillside.

We do our best to check for forgotten items the moment you check-out. We are happy to mail most things back to guests. You will be charged the cost of shipping. We are not responsible for anything lost at our properties or damaged in shipping.

The Hillside is located at the top of a beautiful hill with scenic views. It’s accessed by a steep paved blacktop driveway. Under normal conditions, every vehicle is able to access the property. In times of inclement weather and during winter months we highly suggest bringing a 4 wheel drive vehicle. We have a company who plows and salts the driveway regularly, however in the Clearfork Valley, where The Hillside is located, there is a lot of snow! Which adds to the fun during the winter, but can make access challenging in a 2WD vehicle.

The house is spacious and has many areas to gather as well as places to retreat and spend time alone.

- Kitchen: Breakfast seating for 6 at island and fireplace.

- Kitchen Balcony: Scenic views and seating for 10.

- Great Room: Massive community table with seating for 16 and comfy sectional and chairs with scenic views into the valley.

- Basement Lounge: Couches and chairs, a bar with 2 TV’s for the adults, shuffleboard, a poker table, and 2 high top tables.

- Game Room: Ping pong, arcade games, and more.

- Loft: Sectional couch that converts to queen sleeper sofa (sleeps 2) and big screen TV.

Bedrooms

- 1st Floor Master Suite (Sleeps 5): 600 square foot room with king bed, queen sleeper sofa, and twin sleeper sofa. Private balcony with expansive views.

- 2nd Floor Family Camp Room (Sleeps 6): Queen bed, twin bed, private queen bed (the Harry Potter room) and twin daybed. Includes a tv, hidden reading nook and a private balcony with a beautiful view.

- 2nd Floor Loft (Sleeps 2): Queen sleeper sofa in the loft area.

- 2nd Floor King Room (Sleeps 2): King size bed with a tv, workstation desk and comfy reading chair. Includes a private balcony with a beautiful view.

- Basement Bunk Room (Sleeps 4): Queen bed, twin bunk beds, and TV.

- Basement Queen Room (Sleeps 2): Queen bed, TV.

We are happy to discuss special events like weddings, corporate retreats, birthday parties, and more. The property is able to accommodate groups of 30-50 people for a day-long event. Parking is limited. No raucous parties are allowed. It’s a serene, beautiful place and we want to be respectful of the neighbors who live near The Hillside so quiet hours are 10pm to 10am. Please let us know what event you have in mind.

Our property is not child proof and it is the responsibility of the supervising adults to ensure children's safety in and around our properties. Children must always be supervised by adults. We recommend designating 1-2 adults each day to supervise hot tub and pool activity. We do not provide pool toys to ensure 100% visibility of our pool waters. We hope to provide a safe environment for families, however it is the responsibility of parents to supervise their children.

The Hillside is located in the scenic Clear Fork Valley. We are 15 minutes from Mohican State Park where many activities like hiking, horseback riding, canoeing, mountain biking, boating and fishing are available. Visit nearby Snow Trails ski resort during winter months for skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing. Access to the Richland B&O bike trail is available a few minutes away in Butler. Several golf courses including Pleasant Hill, Deer Ridge, and Little Apple are all close by. Other local attractions include historic Malabar Farm State Park, Mount Jeez Overlook (Ohio’s highest point), Pleasant Hill and Charles Mill Lake Parks, The Ohio State Reformatory and “Shawshank Trail’ filming locations, and Mid Ohio Sports Car Course.
